PLACES where South Cumbrians sought refuge at times of crisis will form the subject of a talk to the History of Kirkby Group.
Dan Elsworth of Ulverston-based Green Lane archaeology will be the guest speaker on Tuesday, February 19.
His presentation on The Hill Forts of the Furness Area starts at 2pm in the Beckside Village Hall, Kirkby. All are welcome and entrance costs £1.
An Oxford University project to create in online hill fort atlas has identified more than 4,000 potential sites across Great Britain and Ireland.
Sites include Skelmore Heads, near Great Urswick and Castle Head at Lindale, where Iron Age and Roman items were found.
