A WOMAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after scanning a different barcode to buy clothes and shoes cheaper at a self-service checkout at Barrow's ASDA.
Karrilea Hudson, 27, of Marsh Street, Barrow, was already on a suspended sentence for drink driving when she committed the £80 fraud on September 23 this year.
She admitted dishonestly making a false representation when she appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates Court but it was ordered the suspended sentence was not activated.
Instead it was varied to include a four week electronic curfew from 8pm to 6am, where she must stay at a given address.
The suspended 18-week sentence will last for 24 months.
She was also told to pay £80 compensation and £85 court costs.
