THE trial of a man and a woman accused of assaulting, ill-treating and neglecting two young children has been adjourned.

Nathan Moscrop, of Gloucester Street, and Rebecca Leigh O'Brien, formerly of Durham Street, both in Barrow, were due to go on trial this week for the alleged offences, which date back to between March 2015 and March 2016.

Ms O'Brien and Mr Moscrop are accused of two counts of assaulting, neglecting or ill-treating a child in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.

The pair both pleaded not guilty in July and were due to stand trial on Monday.

But the hearing was adjourned and is expected to start after Christmas.
