WOMAN hits out at hotel bosses after wedding plans become embroiled in dispute.

Cat Myers, 28, of Tyne Road, Walney has claimed bosses at The Dunes Hotel have misled her when she attempted to book her Wedding reception for next August.

Miss Myers has claimed she was made to feel like a "dosser" when the hotels bosses said they could no longer cater for her wedding as they had since increased the minimum amount that couples have to spend to no less than £7,000.

Miss Myers said that when she first approached event organisers at the Dunes there was no minimum spend for their wedding and according to Miss Myers they said: "you can spend as much or as little as you want".

Miss Myers then said that she received two quotes of £5460 and another of £4390, but after considering her other outgoings she felt the quotes were above her budget.

After requesting an itemised bill from The Dunes, Miss Myers removed items and received a quote of £2450 that she said she 'was very happy with'.

Miss Myers said: "I do understand we were given around 4 quotes before we came to an agreement, but I wasn't aware this would be a problem as the event organiser said we were able to spend as little or as much as possible."

Following this, Miss Myers said she was unable to confirm the booking despite making several attempts to do so and to pay her deposit.

Gawain Steel, operations manager for the Lucidity Group, the company behind Barrow's The Dunes Hotel, said: "We must confirm that we never cancelled Miss Myers wedding as there was never any confirmation made and we by no means wanted to belittle her in anyway.

"After a meeting with our board and the large investment we have made in The Dunes, which has amounted to between £2.5-3 million it is no longer financially viable for us to provide weddings under £7,000.

"Miss Myers has made the whole process very difficult and after discussions with her I was very apologetic, but at no point was a confirmation made for the wedding".
