TWO childhood sweethearts who met at a school in Barrow tied the knot in a lavish ceremony.

Specialist painter Wayne Gregg, 30 and sales assistant Jenna Callow, 31 were happily married on May 12 at the Chequers Hotel in Dalton in front of their dearest friends and family.

This Barrow couple first met on the 28 June 2010 when they were then both studying at Parkview School in Barrow.

At the time they only knew each other through mutual friends, but after Wayne messaged Jenna over Facebook they became a lot closer.

When they first met properly out of school it was at a friends house where they watched a football game and soon after they were inseparable.

Jenna said: “For the next six weeks after that he was always coming over.”

Jenna described Wayne as a “cheeky chap” who she said "she can always have a laugh with" and they can always poke fun at one another.

She also mentioned how “thoughtful and caring” Wayne is and mentioned the time he whisked her off to Leeds to see James Arthur at the First Direct Arena, which she really enjoyed.

The couple also regularly go back to Leeds for city breaks.

The lovebirds had a baby boy on the 15 August 2011 who they called Riley Gregg.

Jenna described Riley’s arrival as “brilliant” and said t was something they both "really wanted".

Wayne proposed on the October 9 2012.

At the time the couple's boiler was not working so they were living separately with their parents.

Wayne then decided to surprise Jenna with a romantic meal at their house, decorating the room with candles and flowers.

Although Jenna was “shocked” it was something they had both spoken about for a long time.

The couple decided to get married on May 12 2018 and although there was some pressure from Jenna’s nanna, Muriel ,this was something they had long set out to do.

Despite, things running a little late on the day the couple and their 78 guests enjoyed a wonderful time all on a “gorgeous” spring day.

The staff at the Chequers Hotel put out a splendid spread for all the guests with a three-course sit down meal.

Then in the evening guests enjoyed the wonderful sounds of local singer-songwriter Megan Doherty.

Jenna also described the very touching moment when she was walking down the aisle and Wayne began to cry, although he would say he did not.

A week later after the celebrations the couple flew off for a 10 day romantic break to Corralejo in Fuerteventura for their honeymoon.

The happy couple said they would like to thank everyone who attended their wedding and for making it so special.
