THE cameras from the TV antiques show Flog It! were at St Bernard's School, Barrow, 10 years ago today to find treasures from drawers, wardrobes and attics to sell at auction.

Presenter Paul Martin and experts Anita Manning and David Manning were on hand to meet the hundreds of Furness people who arrived to find out the value of everything from furniture and silver to paintings and old pots.

Among those at the front of the queue was Gloria Richardson who had made the trip to Rating Lane on her mobility scooter and was in place 90 minutes before the official start time of 9.30am.

She told the Mail: "I'm very independent. I have brought along some brassware and trench art which I collected years ago or had been given.

"It's not so much for the value but to find the history."

The presenter said: "There has been a lot of interesting things through here today - fine art, vernacular furniture and local history items.

Items selected by the experts were to be sold at auction by 1818 Auctioneers at Kendal on April 8.
