A WOMAN has appeared in court after swapping price tags to get clothes cheaper and for stealing nearly £200 worth of items - including a bra and thong set – from a Barrow town centre store.

Thirty-six-year-old Amanda Kearns admitted to stealing a number of goods worth £194.47 from Debenhams in Portland Walk on August 23, 2017.

They included: Phoenix plunge bra and thong set; Secret Trellis hipster underwear; Citrus Bloom plunge bra; Yves Saint Lauren Mon Paris perfume; a Quiz top; and DVDs of the Smurfs and the hit erotic drama film Fifty Shades Darker.

At South Cumbria Magistrates Court, she also admitted to swapping the price tags on clothing to make it appear that they were cheaper, in an attempt to buy them at sale price.

This also took place on August 23 2017.

She was conditionally discharged for the two offences.

Kearns, of Spring Gardens, Atherton, Manchester, was told to pay £105 including a £20 victim surcharge and a £85 court cost.
