A CHARITY says a decline in usage was the reason behind the closure of The Bradbury Centre in Millom.
The centre, in St George’s Road, provides services to elderly people in the area, but is due to close its doors at the end of the month.
A spokesperson from Age UK West Cumbria said the charity was adapting its services in Millom to meet the changing public demand.
They said: “The number of clients, and groups, using the Bradbury Centre in Millom has been in decline for a number of years.
“This has resulted in the centre usage becoming unsustainable and the fantastic facilities the centre has to offer not being maximised for the benefit of older people in the Millom area."
Despite the closure, Age UK has said it will continue to support the communities in South Copeland and provide an independent living prescription services in Millom through the existing charity shop.
