A Lake District food and drink business is opening a new shop.

Staveley business Lakeland Artisan is expanding into Windermere and its new shop is due to open tomorrow to showcase Lakeland Artisan's handcrafted range of products with other local handcrafted produce.

The company began in 2006 making preserves, and has grown to encompass soft drinks, liqueurs and hampers.

Geoff Monkman, managing director, said: “We’ve grown from small beginnings but the inspiration for all that we do is here in the Lakes. Whether it is Lyth Valley damsons or local honey, the recipes start with the amazing produce we find in the area.

“We’re proud of what we do here and proud to have helped to put Cumbrian flavours firmly on the map. We’ve achieved a lot in our first 12 years, but there’s still more we can do.”

Lakeland Artisan has won numerous Great Taste Awards, the Oscars of the British food industry.
