Members of the Green Party in Ulverston received a special visit from one of the party's key figures.
Sian Berry, co-leader of the England and Wales Green Party, was in Ulverston meeting members of the local branch and visiting a number empty commercial buildings across the town which the Green Party have been campaigning on.
Peter Howlett, from the Ulverston Green Party, said one of the empty buildings in question was the former Hartley’s/Robinson’s brewery, which has been derelict for a number of years and has been described as an “absolute eyesore”.
Mr Howlett said: “The visit was a fact-finding trip for Ms Berry, to see what is happening elsewhere in the country.
“We were able to learn from her and I hope she was able to learn from us.
“As well as discussing local issues, we spoke about wider Green issues like renewable energy.
“We took Ms Berry to see the Kirkby Moor Wind Farm which we have been campaigning to keep operating.”
As well as spending time in Ulverston, Ms Berry also visited local groups in Lancaster, Penrith and Kendal.
In addition to being co-leader alongside Jonathan Bartley, she is a Green Party principal speaker, a councillor for Camden Council, a member of the London Assembly and Green Party London Mayoral candidate.
