INTERESTING to see local schoolchildren protesting about the possibility that human activity is a factor in global climate change. I tried to point out to one group that "It is only a theory you know" to be told I was wrong and that "it is a fact."
Well, whatever they are taught at school these days they should be reminded that scientific theories may be correct, but they remain theories.
In 2013, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded, "It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century."
Personally, I am more worried about the rising risks of a nuclear winter rather than warming. In a nuclear winter a major nuclear war generates so much dust into the upper atmosphere that the sun cannot shine through. And the dust can remain aloft for a few years...just long enough for most of us to either freeze or starve to death as crops fail around the globe.
At least with alleged global warming mankind is clever enough to move and adjust his activities. With a nuclear winter there is unlikely to be escape. And sadly our blundering leaders are moving further and further from any possibility of ending the nuclear arms race.
