CLUES to the story of Barrow's development which are provided by its old buildings will feature in a talk on Monday.

Furness Family History Society holds its annual meeting from 7pm and from 7.30pm local researcher Dennis Laird will give a talk on the History of Barrow Through its Buildings.

Barrow town centre was built in a relatively short time as thousands of new arrivals sought work in the town's iron and steelworks, shipyard and engineering works.

It is being held at Barrow Island Primary School Community Development Centre, Barrow Island, and costs £2, including refreshments. All are welcome.

The society, which encourages and supports family history research, was founded in 1993.
