YOUNGSTERS at a Barrow infant and nursery school took a step back in time to find out what life was like in the Victorian age.
Pupils at Victoria School, on Oxford Street, dressed up in vintage costumes to try out a range of both fun and educational activities in the classroom and outdoors.
The Mail, on March 20 in 2000, noted: "The young Victorians had the chance to enjoy games such as hop-scotch in the playground.
"The pupils of Year Two also found out that the Victorians were keen on fitness, especially in schools, and took part in posture exercises.
"The girls wore traditional floppy hats and long pinafore dresses.
"The boys donned big boots and braces with waistcoats and flat caps for the special theme day."
It was designed to help the pupils understand more about Victorian life for a school project.
