TODDLERS had the chance to experience life as a firefighter while raising money for their school back in 2000.

The Mail, on Wednesday, April 5, noted: "Youngsters from Millom Pre-school Playgroup, on St George's Road, put their best feet forward to take part in a sponsored walk last week to raise money for their school.

"As an extra special treat when the children arrived at Millom fire station, on Lonsdale Terrace, from the school they got to look around the engines."

More than 30 youngsters and parents took part.

Pre-school leader Sue Miller said: "They really enjoyed doing it and when they got to the fire station they were given a drink of pop and a packet of crisps.

"They got to listen to the siren and look at the fire engines so the were really pleased as they got something out of it as well."
