A St. George’s Day Pageant will be held this weekend in Ulverston - transforming the marketplace into a reenactment of the Christian Easter story as well as a battleground between a noble knight and a fearsome dragon.
The day will begin with a Passion Play at 10.30am where the Easter story will be retold on Market Street.
This will be followed by a band performance from the town band and Blast Furness at 12pm and one pantomime-inspired performance reenacting the St George's dragon tale at 1pm.
It is hoped the light-hearted retelling of the story of England’s patron saint will provide entertainment for the town’s lunchtime shoppers.
Last year’s performances received widespread praise from the Ulverston community.
Former Ulverston town mayor Paul Smith, said: “This is Ulverston waking up after the winter and coming to life again."
