A BRIDE gave her wedding dress a colourful send-off after marrying the love of her life.

Waitress Caroline Jayne Duke, 39, and maintenance manager Diego Sanchis Molinari, 39, tied the knot at the Chequers Hotel in Dalton.

The couple met on PlentyOfFish in January 2016.

They had their first date in Manchester on February 13 2016 at a Tapas Bar.

Caroline said the couple ‘just clicked’ and the date went ‘brilliantly’.

“It was absolutely brilliant - we both couldn’t stop talking and laughing," she said. "We are both quite confident people so we just chatted non-stop.

“Everything went so fast, it was just lovely.”

The couple are now based in Askam and Caroline previously worked for 19 years at Dalton’s Wynsors World of Shoes. She now works at the Chequers Hotel.

Diego is originally from Uruguay and moved to Askam to be with Caroline after being based in Manchester for several years.

Diego proposed to Caroline on Christmas Eve 2016.

The couple went for a three-course meal at Francescas Italian Restaurant based on Duke Street, Barrow, before Diego proposed in front of the large Christmas Tree outside The Forum.

Caroline said: “I had no idea. We had briefly spoken about it before but when he first got down on one knee I couldn’t believe it. I just started crying and said of course I will marry you.”

After the proposal the couple then moved in together in February 2017.

The couple then got married at the Chequers Hotel on February 14 2018.

“We decided on a Valentine’s wedding as our first date was in Manchester city centre on February 13 - so two years later we got married and it was the happiest day of our lives," she said.

The couple were joined by their closest 46 family and friends. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal and entertainment on the evening with Becki Fishwick.

Caroline said: “It was a brilliant day full of emotions and everything went so smoothly.” After the day the couple travelled off in style in a limousine to Grange Hotel.

Since getting married the couple are now expecting their first child, a son, who is expected to be born on August 21 this year.

Since the wedding Caroline was also keen to take part in a unique photoshoot in January 2019 with her photographer Clare Gelderd.

Called ‘Wreck the Dress’, both enjoyed a fantastic day taking photos of Caroline in her wedding dress while vibrant paint was thrown onto her.
