A CHINESE takeaway has been crowned with another five-star rating for the fifth consecutive year.

Copeland Borough Council’s latest food hygiene ratings revealed the Golden Lotus, in Millom, was awarded once again with the highest score possible, which according to the council’s latest figures, has consistently stood since 2013.

The takeaway, on Lapstone Road, opened in 2009 and is currently run by a married couple along with their son, Jamie Zhao, 25.

Mr Zhao said: “We’re strict in our hygiene standards and have been since we opened 10 years ago.

“We’re chuffed that we were awarded this rating again, which we’ve worked hard for.”

The owners, originally from Taishan in China’s Guangdong province, serve both British dishes and traditional Cantonese-style foods.
