Hindpool Tigers “A” team were hit with a trio of serious injuries in their fixture with Askam in the first round of the Frank Reid trophy.

Player/Coach Andy Thompson (dislocated knee) Shannon Coleman (Concussion) and Aiden Wilkinson (Fractured ankle) were all dispatched to Furness General Hospital and were later released.

The Tigers lost out to Askam 50 points to five.

Ulverston and Barrow Island were given a free ticket into the semi-finals with respective opponents Roose Pioneers and Millom failing to raise a team.

In the league in mid-week Barrow Island defeated Dalton 62-0.

It was a good week for the Island with their first team moving into second place in the Conference second division with a 24-12 win over Dewsbury Moor.

It was nip and tuck at 12-12 mid way through the second half but two converted tries sealed victory.

Anderson-Max-Moore crossed for Island first try converted by Adam Jackson following a fine break from Ian Irvine, the visitors making it 6-6 with a try from Gavin Davies goaled by Louis Walker.

Island regained the lead through Jake Stockdale with Jackson adding the goal before Keiran Hepworth try and Walker goal made it 12-12 Joe Spenceley set up a try for Blain Marwood with Moore crossing for a second, both converted by Jackson. Island go to leaders Heworth on Saturday.

Four cyclists started off at 4AM from Dewsbury to Rating Lane in aid of their Coach 36-year-old Peter Robinson who has cancer, a journey they do for every away game.

A collection for the Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield in the Island clubhouse raised £490 plus a £100 donation from former Island player Joe Elliot of Furness Tiles.

Dalton lost 34-12 at Haresfinch with tries from Owen Bridle and Dann Knott plus two goals from Joe Crarey.

Walney lost 24-8 at Wigan Springview tries from Jamie Marshall and Rory Sayle.
