A cheese shop in Cartmel has been named as the second best in the United Kingdom.
The ranking came about through the Sunday Times' ranking of businesses across the nation, with Cartmel Cheeses just pipped by Courtyard Dairy in Settle, North Yorkshire.
The shop thanked the local area for its continued support which has helped bring about this latest success.
Cartmel, described as being like a 'picture-postcard' by the Sunday Times, was said to be a 'food lover's paradise', with Cartmel Cheeses fitting seamlessly into that bracket.
The shop earned extra kudos for supplying Simon Rogan's myriad restaurants, including the flagship Michelin star enterprise L’Enclume.
Cartmel Cheeses placed above Rennet & Rind in Stamford, George Mewes Cheese in Glasgow, Ty Caws in Cardiff, Chorlton Cheesemongers of Manchester, and London's Neal’s Yard Dairy.
