Two artists from Cumbria are being given the chance to show off their talents at a new exhibition.

Tina Balmer from Ulverston and Rebecca Scott from Windermere are the
focus of the latest ‘Art in the Atrium’ gallery at Low Wood Bay Resort and
Spa.

Running until the end of July, the free exhibition called ‘Still Life –
A Celebration’ has been organised by English Lakes Hotels Resorts and
Venues and Gavagan Art.

Executive chairman of English Lakes Hotels, Simon Berry, said: “We’re
proud to present the unique works of two prominent artists from Cumbria
in our latest Art in the Atrium gallery.

“Tina’s paintings in her own words take on a life of their own as
colours, textures and composition compete, whilst Rebecca’s work is in a sense biographical, often reflecting reactions to situations she has
experienced.

"The gallery will give art enthusiasts and casual viewers
alike plenty to contemplate.”

Rebecca, who lives and works between London and Cumbria, is
co-founder of Cross Lane Projects, an independent art space in Kendal.

Her work features in private and public collections nationally
and internationally and she has exhibited overseas in Spain, France,
Germany, Sweden and Norway.

Rebecca’s artistic practice revolves around the transformation of
conventional photographic imagery into painted works that challenge
traditional ideas of interpretation and representation.

Tina has been exhibiting her work since 1998 and has had solo
exhibitions at Brantwood near Coniston and the Brewery Arts Centre in
Kendal.

She has also organised various art trails and exhibitions in
the north of England, including Printfest and Artfest North.

Her paintings are inspired by a celebration of domesticity, with objects
often arranged to create patterns and depth representing the 'rituals of
daily life'. 

Mary Gavagan from Gavagan Art added: “It’s fitting that the latest
exhibition at Low Wood Bay features two contemporary artists from
Cumbria.

"They both create still life paintings as a means of expression,
from Tina Balmer’s colourful and considered arrangements to the
carefully observed studies of Rebecca Scott.”
