WITH the title and relegation issues having already been wrapped up, there is little to play for other than pride in the final round of North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division fixtures tomorrow.

Furness’ surprise loss to strugglers Whitehaven last Saturday means they will have to settle for third place after finishing as runners-up last year, with Cockermouth being crowned champions and Cleator finishing second.

Scott Pearcey’s side do at least end the season with three pieces of silverware to their name though, having clinched the South Lakes Twenty20, the Higson Cup and the Cumbria County Cup prizes.

They close out the year with a match against fellow South Cumbrians Lindal Moor at Furness Park tomorrow, the visitors having narrowly steered clear of the relegation place.

Last year’s Division One champions Lindal are just 10 points clear of another of the promoted sides in Haverigg, who enjoyed a superb derby win over Millom thanks to the starring role of brothers Drew and Jordan Postlethwaite.

Haverigg’s final game of the year sees them at home to mid-table Keswick and Millom make the trip to newly-crowned champions Cockermouth.

Dalton were able to comfortably retain their place in the league’s Premier Division for the 2019 campaign.
