TWELVE months ago, Millom were relegated to Division Three of the National Conference League.

Now they are on course for a quick return and tomorrow, at Devonshire Road, will aim to complete the first of the two steps needed to achieve promotion.

The Woolybacks take on Eastmoor in the play-off semi-finals and, if successful, will be home again next weekend to either Clock Face or Woolston.

“It is a great opportunity for the many young lads we have in the squad to push for promotion,” said Millom player-coach Tom Sibley ahead of the clash with the Wakefield outfit.

“It is in our grasp and for them it is something to aim for.

“We will have another light session tonight and take it from there.”

Last week the Woolybacks ran in 66 points without reply against Salford City Roosters off the back of a 30-8 defeat at Eatstmoor.

“It was nice to run in some good tries with flowing rugby against the Roosters and we look to keep that up tomorrow although it will be a bit tougher against Eastmoor,” added Sibley, who returns along with Luke Brady and Dom O’Brien.

Tyler Lancaster is unavailable, while Niall Harris will have a late test on a leg injury.

Askam round off their regular season when they take on bottom side Leigh East in Division Two and victory will secure a home tie in the play-off semi-finals with Saddleworth next weekend.

“Last week we had a very good win over West Bowling (36-8),” said Askam coach Dave Clark. “The lads played some good footy against a team that had recorded six wins out of seven outings.

“We will have to stay focused and carry on the good work from that game with Bowling.”

Missing are the Tyson brothers, Kris and Mark – the latter of whom walks down the aisle next week – along with Jamie Butler and Grady Slater.

Ulverston take on Manchester Rangers at Dragley Beck in the North West Men’s League Division Two top four play-offs.

Coach Phil Atkinson welcomes back Che Smith, Johny Hutton, ‘Dinger’ Bell, Dan Crabtree, Marc Dixon and Matty and Marc Storey.

However, goal-kicker Connor Saunders is ruled out along with Will Coates and Eric Hill. Doubtful are Steve O’Connor, Dan Akred, Scott Houston and Kieran Potter.

“We have beaten them twice this season when they were front-runners for the league title but we know it won’t be easy,” said Atkinson. “They will come looking to knock us down.”

Walney Central – who finished runners up in Division One – host Latchford in the play-offs.
