JUST one game took place on Saturday as the area’s football fixtures suffered a near washout due to Storm Callum, writes Steve Brennan.

That was in the first round of the Furness Senior Cup, where West Lancashire League Division One side Crooklands Casuals overcame Furness Premier League outfit Bootle 4-1 on their own patch.

The match at Bootle was subject to a pitch inspection, but it was given the go-ahead while the rest of the first round games were postponed.

It was Cassies who were celebrating at full time though, with Rikki Gallacher, Kieren Clark, Jasper Carey and Kevin Edwards all on target for the visitors.

Bootle did at least manage a consolation courtesy of James Woodall.

Elsewhere, the matches between Barrow Wanderers and Vickerstown reserves, Dalton United and GSK Ulverston Rangers, Furness Cavaliers and Hawcoat Park, Furness Rovers and Croftlands Park, Millom and Askam United, Swarthmoor Social and Holker Old Boys reserves, and Walney Island and Britannia will be re-arranged for a later date.

It was a similar story in the Furness Premier League, as the two scheduled Premier Division games and the entire Division One and Two fixture list fell victim to the rain.

Holker Old Boys’ North West Counties League game at AFC Blackpool was also postponed.
