GEORGIA Stanway could soon be collecting yet another accolade after the rising star from Barrow was nominated for the goal of the year prize at the 2018 North West Football Awards.

The former Dowdales School pupil, who could make her senior England debut in a friendly away to Austria this Thursday, was one of eight players nominated for the award and the only female on the list.

It was Stanway's strike from outside the box which earned Manchester City a 2-2 draw against Chelsea in the FA Women's Super League back in February which earned her the nomination.

She is in esteemed company on the shortlist too, with Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Matic and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain among those up for the award which is voted on by the public.

"All eight goals to have made the shortlist are fantastic moments in their own right and I’ll be waiting with excitement as to who will be named the eventual winner," said the North West Football Awards' Laura Wolfe.

Anyone who would like to vote for Stanway should tag the handle @NWFAwards on Twitter and use the hashtag #NWFAGoalE.

The awards take place at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on November 12.
