RUNNERS from near and far will be hitting the streets of Ulverston again a week tomorrow when Hoad Hill Harriers host their annual Christmas Pudding 10k and fun run.

Organisers are hoping for good weather on the popular flat course, which should allow some of the long-standing course records to be broken.

The men’s record was set by Andi Jones, of Salford Harriers, way back in 2004, while Black Combe Runners’ Lizzie Brown holds the ladies record of 33mins 55secs, which she set two years ago.

“The last flurry of course records went back in 2013 so were ready for some of those to fall” says race director Louise Thompson.

“It’s a great race for the town supported by so many of the local clubs and runners out in force to support local causes. We really look forward to seeing them all attending.”

There are prizes for all finishers from first to fifth place, along with veterans categories for each age group. A Christmas pudding is on offer to everyone who completes the 10k course too.

The day starts at 11am with a children’s fun run, where children can run one mile in the club’s Glaxo Sports Club grounds.

The main event then begins at 11.30am, following a circuit around the town.

Entries are open online at www.ukroadraces.info or postal entries via Hoad Hill website.
