Attacking midfielder Astley Mulholland has announced that he has left Barrow AFC after struggling for first-team football at Holker Street.

Mulholland signed for the Bluebirds during the summer from Colwyn Bay, taking the same route as striker Jack Hindle, but went on to make just four appearances, with his only start coming against Harrogate Town on October 30.

The 30-year-old had actually spent a month on loan at Northern League Division One side Hyde United in September before making his AFC debut as a substitute against Sutton United.

With Barrow manager Ian Evatt currently spoilt for choice when it comes to attacking options, the two parties have mutually decided to release Mulholland.

Mulholland posted on his Twitter account: “Just like to wish @BarrowAFC players and staff all best for rest of season... Top bunch of lads and staff...both agreed to part ways shame I couldn’t get more game time but that’s football... Good luck, am sure they will do well, hopefully turned a corner now.”
