BRITISH Legion A cemented their positions at the top of the Barrow Friday League snooker, darts and welch don standings with wins in their match away to Barrow Football Supporters Club.

The visitors were in imperious form on the green baize, winning 3-0 with all three matches producing similar results.

Captain John Tyreman got the ball rolling with a 59-27 win over Steve Martin, followed by Billy Burns beating Jimmy Christie 62-24 and Dave Simpson overcoming old team-mate Adam Cook 61-27.

On the oche, Keith Moscrop landed three tons in his win over BFSC captain Mike Edwards (140, 100), with Alan Fraser, Dave Macmillan, Steve Hetherington (125) and Tony Macmillan wrapping up a 5-2 win.

The card games produced a narrow 6-5 win for Legion A as well.

It was a different story at billiards though, where BFSC recorded the best result of the night with a dominant 3-0 win over Legion A as Jimmy Wilson, Denis Plant – who ended the winning run of Paul Fieldhouse – and Steve Hetherington all won the race to 100.

British Legion lead the way in the billiards standings and took a 2-1 win at home to Navy Club B, starting with one of the night’s two treble winners, Kevin Quinn, beating Paul Kyle thanks to breaks of 19 and 17.

Navy captain John Clamp levelled the match, but home skipper Allan Edmondson kept his 100 per cent record going by winning the decider against Ian Large 100-46.

The result was reversed at snooker, where Navy took the win thanks to victories for Joe O’Leary and Alf Carruthers. Dave Wilkie got Legion’s point by fighting back from 20 points down to beat Jack Arnold on the black ball.

Navy edged the darts 4-3 thanks to wins from Dave Rafferty (114), O’Leary (125), Wilkie and Dave Simpson.

And the visitors won the welch don 6-5 too thanks to the pairings of Ray Procter and Pat Kyle, and Pat Fogharty and Chris Kirkby.

Elsewhere, Vickerstown CC wrapped up a 3-0 win at snooker over Roose Cons thanks to treble winner Josh Francis, Jimmy Allen and Paul Fitzpatrick.

A 26 break from Gareth Willis helped him win the top-man’s billiards match against Roose’s Peter Roberts, with team-mate Peter Scott sealing the win and Ray Cooney getting a consolation point for Roose.

Willis (180, 100) starred at darts too, with Brian Tucker (2x100), Bob Crossthwaite and Francis (100) sealing a 4-3 win for Vickerstown, who also took the don 6-2.
