IAN Evatt hopes the recent disruptions to Barrow AFC’s fixture list will not prove detrimental as the team aim to continue their good run of results.

Bromley visit Holker Street tomorrow with the Bluebirds having struck a rich vein of form which has seen them maintain hopes of pushing towards the play-offs.

Last Saturday was the second weekend since the turn of the year they have been without a game though and while it did give an opportunity for the squad to rest up and recuperate, Barrow boss Evatt

“It’s not ideal,” said Evatt. “We’ve had a couple of weekends in the last month which have kind of scuppered momentum and we’re on a good run.

“We’ve lost one in 11 and kept eight clean sheets in that time, so we’re in good form, but we have to use it as a benefit, recharge the batteries, get ourselves refreshed and ready to go.

“It’s a big game tomorrow and hopefully we’ll get all three points.”

The cold weather last weekend scuppered Evatt’s plans to get on the training round, but the team have still been working hard in the gym.

And Evatt hopes that, combined with the work done in recent days, will ward off any effects of not having a game last week.

“We gave them a good blast in the gym towards the end of last week and then let them have the weekend off to recharge ready for a full week this week,” said Evatt.

“They had a couple of tough days on Monday and Tuesday, were off on Wednesday and then go again yesterday and today for a big game.”

“It’s good that we can do plenty of working on the training pitch and we’ve done that. Hopefully we’ll see the benefits of it and you never know how lads are going to come out of a break until we see them on Saturday.

“They should be bouncing, but sometimes they can go a bit stale. Hopefully that’s not the case and we can put a good performance on for the home fans.”
