JENNY Clayton hit a hat-trick as South Lakes trounced Leyland & Chorley 8-2 to record only their third win of the North Women’s League Division Two North West season.

Clayton put the hosts ahead after just three minutes, with Holly Nuttall adding two more goals which sandwiched Pam Robertson’s effort.

Clayton’s second came on 53 minutes, followed by Rebecca Cook scoring from a penalty corner and Clayton grabbing her third of the match in the 65th minute.

Emma Armstrong rounded off the scoring for South Lakes to secure a big home win. They now travel to bottom side Preston this Saturday aiming to make it back-to-back victories.

Windermere’s men made it three wins in a row as they beat Sefton Liverpool 4-0 to move up to sixth in North Men’s League Two West.

Mere went ahead when Isaac Ravenhill and Harry Jackson linked for Jackson to get to the baseline and beat the goalkeeper for Archie Dalzell to finish.

Skipper Will Dolman then converted a short corner to make it 2-0 at a half time and more Mere pressure soon told after the restart when Adam Whitehead who beat the whole of the Sefton defence, leaving several players on the ground, before calmly flicking it over the keeper.

Man of the match Whitehead doubled his tally and completed the scoring by slapping in from a cross.

A youthful Mere 2 men’s side let slip a 2-1 lead at half time against Ormskirk in North West Men’s League Five, going down 3-2.

Will Ganniclifft and skipper Jason Balmer had given them a lead, but two goals for Ormskirk in the closing stages saw them take the win.

Mere ladies suffered a 5-0 defeat away to third-placed Fylde in the Lancashire Central Premier Division, while the second team lost 3-2 in a friendly to Kirkby Stephen Juniors.
