PAUL Doswell has his sights set on making it another good day for Sutton United as they aim to keep pace with the Vanarama National League promotion contenders.

A 1-0 win away to struggling Barnet last Saturday, secured by James Dobson curling home a free kick from 25 yards out during the first half, saw Sutton make it six wins in their last eight games and kept them firmly in the play-off places.

Although it was a close-fought match at The Hive, United manager Doswell was delighted with the outcome and is optimistic his side can keep their winning form up when Barrow visit tomorrow.

“It’s another good day for us, we’re having a few of those lately and we just need to continue with what we’re doing,” Doswell told the National League website.

“There are a lot of different ways to win a football match and over the course of the season we’re showing our fans that we can find a way.

“We’ve now got two home games in a row, Barrow and then Barnet. It’s a chance to continue our good little run.”

Barrow, however, head to Gander Green Lane on an impressive run of just one defeat in their previous 12 matches after drawing 1-1 at home to Bromley last weekend.

The Bluebirds will no doubt be buoyed by memories of their 2-1 win over Sutton at Holker Street back in October too, when strikes from Jack Hindle and Luke Burgess sealed the victory.

And Barrow boss Ian Evatt has created a culture within the squad where belief is high going into every game.

“I say all the time, we don’t fear anybody in the league,” said Evatt. “We go into every game trying to win and expecting to win.

“That’s not arrogance, that’s just belief in ourselves. We believe if we can execute our game plan and play as well as we can, there’s no reason we can’t go there and win.

“We don’t go anywhere home or away to try to defend for points or shut up shop. We go to win and we’ll be trying to do that again on Saturday.”
