A 7-0 whitewash of Roose Cons means British Legion A need just one point to clinch the Barrow Friday League darts title for the third year running.

Keith Moscrop led the way for Legion A with three tons in his game, backed up by Alan Fraser (136), Dave Macmillan (100), Steve Hetherington, Tony Macmillan, Dave Simpson (140) and Mala McCoy, who sealed his win with a ton knock-up.

Vickerstown Cricket Club were in good form on the oche too, recording a 6-1 victory away to British Legion in a match which saw all of their players record a ton.

Wins came from Gareth Willis (100), Brian Tucker playing twice (140, 100), Jimmy Allen (100), David Holmes (100) and Bob Crosthwaite (120 and a 70 knock-up).

The other match of the week saw Barrow Football Supporters club triumph 5-2 over Navy Club B at home.

Mike Fletcher played and won twice, hitting a 140 in his first game and a 127 in his second, with Mike Edwards (2x100, 137), Barry Butterworth and Steve Martin (100) winning too.

A 6-5 defeat against Roose Cons did not dent Legion A’s charge towards the welch don title, with their lead now standing at 12 points.

Vickerstown were in dominant form on the card table, claiming maximum points in an 8-3 victory over Legion.

Meanwhile, BFSC were 6-3 winners in their match with Navy B.

The billiards title is still very much up for grabs, with Vickerstown hauling themselves into contention thanks to a 2-1 win over leaders Legion.

Willis, who ended Allan Edmondson’s impressive run of wins, and treble-winner David Holmes secured the victory for the cricketers, with Kevin Quinn getting one back for Legion.

Clubmates Legion A had the best game of the night, winning 3-0 against Roose Cons thanks to Peter Roberts, Hetherington and Tony Macmillan to go within a point of the leaders with two games left.

Jimmy Wilson and Paul Kyle won the race to 100 in their matches to secure a 2-1 victory over Navy B.

Legion A have already wrapped up the snooker title and showed why in a 3-0 win over Roose, which included John Tyreman winning a black-ball decider.

Legion won all of their matches against Vickerstown on their home table too, with Mike Smith, Jack Arnold and Alf Carruthers triumphing.

And Navy B were 2-1 victors at BFSC, with Andy Charnley and Joe O’Leary securing the win.
