AFTER the half-term break and fixture programme disrupted in recent weeks by the weather, the majority of teams in the Barrow & District Junior League under-12s and under-14s competitions returned to league action on a perfect morning for football.

In the under-14s division, top-of-the-table Vickerstown extended their unbeaten season with a win at Hawcoat Park Dynamos.

The younger Dynamos team put in a solid performance and held their opponents for long periods of the game, going in 0-0 at the break.

However, second half goals from Evan McQuistan, Russell Ferguson, Corran Clarke and Diesel Wilkes saw Vickerstown to victory.

At the opposite end of the table there was an entertaining game between Crooklands Casuals and Millom.

A hat-trick from Mackenzie Barnes, along with one goal from Brad Cotton was not enough for Crooklands, as four goals from Jackson Evans and another from Elliot McMeekin saw Millom edge to a 5-4 victory.

There was also a victory for Furness Cavaliers u13s, who won 8-3 at Vickerstown Blues, while Holker Old Boys Reds kept the pressure on Vickerstown with an 8-2 victory over Barrow Celtic.

In the under-12s, Millom are the latest team to occupy top spot as they won 10-2 away to Hawcoat Park, while Furness Cavaliers are three points behind after winning 11-0 away to Holker Old Boys.

There are still several teams in with a chance of taking the title and, with cup games and the Easter holidays approaching, it looks like it could go right down to the end of the season before any team emerges as clear favourites.

Another of the chasing pack, Crooklands Casuals under-11s, won 2-1 against Walney Island and Crooklands Casuals under-12s have started to gather some form as they continued their good run to beat Barrow Celtic 3-1.
