DAVE Braithwaite and Barry Hartle have both been awarded life memberships of the Barrow & District Rugby League Referees Society in recognition of their long-standing contributions.

Hartle has been involved in officiating for over three decades and is now recognised as one of the country's leading assessors.

He also plays a big role in development, running sessions for the Barrow & District society's members.

Along with having an extensive coaching background, Braithwaite helped reform the Barrow society in 2006 when it restarted with just five officials. It is now a thriving society for which he serves as appointments officer.

Cumbrian Super League referee Gareth Hewer presented the pair with their certificates.
