DALTON under-14s dreams of reaching the final of the Lancashire County Girls Youth Cup were ended on Sunday by a much stronger and superior Hindley team.

Hindley raced into a 3-0 lead within the first five minutes.

Rather than feel sorry for themselves, Dalton rallied and managed to get a goal back through Amelia Jepson to make the score 4-1 at half time.

Hindley continued to dominate in the second half and had it not been for the heroics of Dalton’s goalkeeper Jazmin Brown the final score would have been much bigger than 8-1.

Coach Graham Bickerstaff was proud of the girls’ attitude on the day despite everything going against them.

Next up for the girls is the Westmorland Cup semi-final at home to Milnthorpe this Sunday on the 3G pitch at Furness College.

In the South Lakes Girls League, Ulverston Rangers cemented their place in the top five of the under-12s division with a 5-0 win at home to Barrow Celtic under-11s.
