Thanks to last weekend’s awful weather, only one fixture in the Barrow & District Junior Football League was able to take place last Saturday.

That was in the under-16 league and how glad Crooklands Casuals U15s were that they beat the deluge, as they hammered Holker Old Boys U15 Stags 8-1 at Longlands Park, in what was a clash between the two bottom teams in the table.

Neither side had a point to their name before last weekend, but Crooklands put that right in spectacular fashion, as they overwhelmed their visitors.

They’ll be on their home turf again on Saturday, against Walney Island U15s.

Out of all the Furness District FA Cup quarter finals that were due to take place last Saturday, only one survived the rain that caused a slew of postponements.

It came in the under-14 competition and it proved to be not much of a contest as Furness Cavaliers U13s ran out 13-0 winners against Hawcoat Park U13 Hawks, who play in the age group below their opponents in the Barrow & District League.

The inclement weather meant the rest of the under-14 ties, and all of those in the under-12 and under-16 competitions were called off and will have to be rescheduled.
