ALEC Susino is unlikely to have much time to adjust back to life in Barrow when he arrives back in the UK tomorrow.

The fundraising efforts of Barrow Raiders' supporters and sponsors mean the Australian prop has been re-signed a little over a week after first letting head coach Paul Crarey know he was available if needed.

The injury situation at Craven Park means he is likely just to have tomorrow night's training session and the Saturday morning team run before being thrust back into action in this Sunday's home clash with Swinton Lions in the Betfred Championship.

But Susino has been playing for his old club Mount Pritchard Mounties this year and Crarey has no qualms over putting the Italy international into the team.

"He knows where we're at and he spoke to me before he came over, and I explained the situation to him," said Crarey.

"He said he's ready to go and he's fit enough – he's played a few games for the Mounties and he just wants to get over here. It's great he's going to come over and it will give us a lift.

"He's a great lad as well, he was involved with coaching the academy and the Barrow & District last year, and he really bought into the Barrow way of life.

"He picked up all the awards and he just works hard, and it will give us that energy and belief through the middle."

Glenn Riley and Jamie Dallimore are also in line to return to the Raiders side against Swinton after being rested for last Saturday's 50-0 defeat away to Toulouse.

Stargroth Amean has passed a concussion test after being forced off with a head injury in France too, and Crarey was encouraged by what he saw from their Papua New Guinean trio in that match.

Willie Minoga's impressive – albeit enforced – spell in the centre has given the Barrow boss another option too and he knows they are not the only part-time team struggling with injuries.

"We are busted up at the moment, but that's the nature of Championship rugby," said Crarey. "It's never going to be easy and there are a lot of teams in exactly the same boat as us.

"It's important nobody panics and when the grounds firm up the PNG boys will be good. I thought they were outstanding at the weekend and Willie Minoga got the fans' player of the match playing in the centre.

"He's played there internationally and it's another little option we've got with people being out. It's been tough at the moment and we've been there or thereabouts.

"We've had a couple of big defeats, but that's what you get in the Championship where the part-time teams are in for a whipping at times."
