GEORGIA Stanway is already looking forward to the next phase of her career after signing a three-year contract with Manchester City Women.

The Barrow forward is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the FA Women's Super League, having starred for both club and country during the 2018/19 season which has already seen City lift the Continental Cup.

Stanway is in line to feature for England at this year's World Cup in France too and when the chance came to extend her stay with City she had little hesitation in signing.

"It's amazing," Stanway told CityTV. "I've been here for four years already and I've loved every single minute, so to be here to stay is a massive achievement and I can't wait to get going again.

"This is where I feel at home and this is where the majority of my development has happened, and this is how I'm the player I am today. I'm in the best-possible position to move forward and I'm happy here.

"It's the environment – the fact everybody has got each others' back and everybody is so supportive.

"But also it's so, so competitive and you're never secure of your spot because there's somebody always chasing you, and I think that's what people thrive off."
