IAN Evatt was in no doubt Barrow AFC deserved more than they got after seeing his side held to a 2-2 draw by Harrogate Town at the Furness Building Society Stadium on Saturday.

The Bluebirds had led 2-0 thanks to a strike from Lewis Hardcastle and John Rooney scoring from the penalty spot, only for a second-half comeback to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.

Manager Evatt was impressed with how Barrow performed against the Vanarama National League play-off hopefuls, but was frustrated by costly errors which led to Harrogate’s goals.

"We've virtually dominated the whole game other than two moments of unexplainable madness, we've gifted them two goals and other than that I can't remember Joel (Dixon) having any saves to make,” said Evatt.

“I just feel sick really for how well the lads have played today, they deserved three points. We have made a good Harrogate side, who are having a very good season, look very average at times and that is what we are capable of.”

It was two uncharacteristic mistakes at the back from Barrow for Harrogate’s goals, which left Evatt frustrated.

"We can't afford to give teams a leg up, 2-0 is always a dodgy score line and the next goal is vital, to concede as we did just after the break made everyone nervous, the crowd, the players and even myself, it gave them a way back into the game when really they hadn't done enough to deserve one," said Evatt.

"It's frustrating because we haven't been making those mistakes of late.

"But we have to learn from it, we can take a lot of credit from the game, but it is really disappointing to play that well and not win.”
