Lakes had lost 11 of their last 12 games in what has been a difficult campaign, but they were able to claim maximum points for the first time since hammering the same opponents 9-2 way back in November.

Windermere 1st XI extended their unbeaten run in the North League Division Two West to five matches, as two goals from Harry Jackson helped them to a 4-2 victory at University of Liverpool.

Jackson opened the scoring midway through the first half with a quickfire shot into the roof of the net, but the students capitalised on some slack defending to equalise and then get ahead at the start of the second-half.

Mere gradually regained control and levelled through a clever reverse stick strike from Will Dolman before Adam Whitehead chipped the ball over the onrushing ‘keeper to give them the lead.

Jackson then sealed the victory after a weaving run through lunging sticks.
