Barrow AFC manager Ian Evatt has admitted to being fed up of seeing his team come away from games where they’ve dominated possession with nothing to show for their efforts.

Last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat against Boreham Wood was the seventh loss the Bluebirds have suffered at Holker Street in the National League this season.

Although they started poorly, AFC had the vast majority of possession after Jack Hindle halved the deficit in the 36th minute and they had more than enough chances to rescue the game.

What let them down was their decision-making in the final third, with cut-backs not making beyond the first man or players choosing to pass instead going for goal from good positions.

Evatt said: “That’s frustrating, but that’s the players’ decisions. We can’t affect that from the side – I’m not telling them not to shoot, they’ve got to make that decision for themselves.

“It’s more or less been the story of the season, really, where we’ve dominated games and somehow we’re coming away thinking ‘how have we lost that?’

“Too many times now, this is our house, this is our home and we’re letting teams come here and burgle us and steal points when really we are the better team and we have to stop that, moving into next season.

“We cannot give teams a leg-up and a head-start, like we did on Saturday, even though it was a wonder goal of a free kick.”
