Barrow AFC captain Josh Granite is set to make his comeback from injury with the club’s under-21 team in their fixture against Lostock St Gerards at Holker Street tonight.

Granite hasn’t featured for the Bluebirds since the goalless draw against FC Halifax Town on January 19 after being ruled out with an ankle problem in early February.

It’s been a stop-start campaign for the 27-year-old, who was troubled with a toe injury during the autumn, but he has been an important part of AFC’s defence when he has been fit to play.

Manager Ian Evatt said: “Josh Granite will definitely be playing. It’s great to have Josh back, he’s a great character and a great player for us. He’ll get some minutes.”

Whether the same can be said for striker Dior Angus in the days ahead remains to be seen after an ankle injury of his own forced him to pull out of last Saturday’s match with Boreham Wood, which would have been his return to action.

“His ankle is probably not where it should be at the moment,” Evatt said.

“He returned to on Thursday, believe it or not he got another whack on it and it kind of set him back again and then he wasn’t feeling great in the warm-up, so we had to pull him out.

“We are short of numbers up there – this season just needs to hurry up, really, and get over with, so we can start getting the ones we want for next season.”
