Barrow Cricket Club graduate Liam Livingstone made his Indian Premier League debut last Saturday, as Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets.

In what was the Royals' seventh match of their IPL campaign, Livingstone was given his bow due to an injury to his fellow Cumbrian, Ben Stokes.

The 25-year-old conceded 13 runs off the one over he bowled, as Mumbai posted a challenging 187-5 from their 20 overs, with South Africa international Quinton de Kock top-scoring by blasting 81 off 52 balls.

Livingstone batted from six in Rajasthan's reply and made just a single before being bowled by Hardik Pandya off the second ball he faced.

His dismissal came in the middle of a late wobble from the Royals, who had previously won just one IPL match this year, as they lost four wickets in the space of nine balls to slide from 170-2 to 174-6.

They had looked set to cruise to victory beforehand after an explosive 89 off just 43 deliveries by Livingstone's Lancashire clubmate Jos Buttler had put the visitors ahead of the required run-rate.

Eventually, they were able to recompose themselves in the last two overs and a four from Shreyas Gopal with three balls to spare sealed the win.
